By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea…fun on and in the water!
Spend the day on one of our beautiful local beaches. Play in the crashing surf, explore the tidal pool or soak up the sun with a good book! We provide beach chairs, towels and umbrellas for our beach-going guests!

Whale watching excursions leave from Dock Square, a short stroll from the inn. Travel 20 miles offshore to Jeffrey’s Ledge. A feeding ground for a variety of whales, including minke, finback, white sided dolphins, humpbacks, and the very rare and highly endangered right whale. Half day and full day excursions are available.

Learn about lobster harvesting with a demonstration aboard a scenic lobstering cruise. Relax as you cruise down the Kennebunk River, and out onto the Atlantic Ocean along the coastline. You’ll be spellbound as you enjoy a brief history lesson and learn about various points of interest.

Step aboard the Schooner Eleanor, leaving from the harbor, just one block from the inn. Your day sail is sure to relax as you cruise down the historic Kennebunk River, passing lobster boats and luxury yachts. Once clear of the harbor, the sails are set and the wind takes charge!

History Museums and Village Walking Tours
Relive the fascinating history of the area’s ship building and sea-faring heritage as you admire some of the most architecturally and historically significant homes along the New England coast. The Kennebunkport Historical Society offers a narrated walking tour through the historic district of Kennebunkport.

Visit the historic Nott House, the museum house of the Kennebunkport Historical Society. Stroll through the period gardens, planted according to the diaries left from the 19th century family.

Kennebunk’s Brick Store Museum is open year round exhibiting treasures of the rich cultural heritage of the Kennebunks.

Ride on a restored, antique streetcar at the Seashore Trolley Museum. Explore the world-famous international collections in three exhibit barns.

Sight-seeing in Kennebunkport & Beyond
If you have never been to Kennebunkport before, you may want to begin your visit with a narrated sight-seeing tour aboard the In-Town Trolley. Climb aboard this fanciful method of transportation and sit back for the stories and sights of Walker's Point, the summer residence of former President Bush, the magnificent rocky coastline, Blowing Cave, Spouting Rock, the Franciscan Monastery, long sandy beaches and through the Historic District of our quaint seaside village.

If you love lighthouses and panoramic ocean vistas, let us provide you with a scenic driving day tour along the coast to the gorgeous cliff walk of the Marginal Way, and out to  Nubble Lighthouse, the second most photographed lighthouse in the country!

On the next day, head out to Cape Elizabeth to capture the most photographed lighthouse in the country at Fort Williams and Portland Head Light.  We have the perfect driving tour with stops at Twin Lights and the quintessential lobster shack!

From the charming boutiques and unique gift shops of Dock Square to the outlet shopping of L.L. Bean in Freeport and the Kittery Outlet malls, there is a wide variety of choices for every type of shopper!

The Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm is a National Research Reserve and 1600 acre seaside farm offering hiking trails, meandering walking paths, Visitors Center and  a hands-on experience with the fragile eco-systems of Southern Maine.

Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge is nearby and offers groomed trails through the woodland marsh areas.

Cape Able Bikes provides bicycle rentals and suggested rides and maps. They'll steer you in the right direction!
