What’s Going on in Kennebunkport?

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

As you know, Kennebunkport is an incredible destination just 86 miles north of Boston and about 30 miles south of Portland, Maine.  But what you may not know is that it is a vibrant community year round!  Here’s just a sampling of what’s going on in the Kennebunks during the next few days:

  • Mother’s Day Special at the Seashore Trolley Museum – moms enter for free when with their kids (May 9)
  • Cruise Night for antique cars (every other Monday and every Tuesday)
  • “From Monet to Van Gogh: A History of Impressionism” – a DVD lecture  at Little Theater in Springvale (May 12)
  • Classic Film Series – Ogunquit Performing Arts (May 12)
  • Warbler Walk Field Trip by the York County Audubon Society at Rotary Park, Biddeford (May 13)
  • Lunch ‘n Learn at the Wells Reserve – this week on “Research for  Healthy Gulf of Maine” (May 13)
  • Fishing Derby at Rogers Pond, Kennebunk (May 15)
  • Spring Birding and Bird Language – Hilton-Winn Conservation Area, York (May 15)
  • 12th Annual Beerfest (May 15), Old Orchard Beach

May truly is a spectacular month in Southern Maine, with great weather, lush greenery and colorful blooms, quiet beaches and incredible dining options, and, of course, the outstanding hospitality of the Maine Stay Inn, your Kennebunkport bed and breakfast inn for relaxed sophistication!

Fall in New England

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Although autumn doesn’t officially begin for five days, fall has clearly arrived in the Kennebunks.  On my evening run last night, I happily donned on a long-sleeved shirt.  I even noticed the first hints of color on the leaves!  A few trees are incredibly vibrant, but for most, the changing is just beginning.  And the first frost may even make an appearance tonight in central areas of the state.

Even our beaches our seeing the change – they are sparsely populated and no sand toys are to be found. Few people are brave enough to dive into the water, but when they do, most are clad in wetsuits.  Don’t misconstrue this, however, the water is incredibly warm – it’s the air that causes a slight chill!
